Applying for Mississippi Medicaid
              
 To qualify for Medicaid in Mississippi:
  • You must be a citizen of the United States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
  • You must be a resident of Mississippi.
  • You must meet requirements for age and/or disability, income, resources and other Mississippi Medicaid eligibility requirements 
  • You must file an application.
  • You must provide requested verification within the allowed time limits.

Mississippi Health Benefits Eligibility - under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), effective January 1, 2014
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) creates insurance affordability programs as a way to get health coverage at no cost or lower cost than purchasing coverage on your own. In Mississippi, these programs include Mississippi Health Benefits (Medicaid and CHIP) and health coverage through a federal marketplace. Voter Registration
To register to vote in Mississippi, visit the Secretary of State website to print, complete, and sign the Voter Registration form. This form needs to be complete prior to visiting a Medicaid Regional Office.


Eligibility Hearings
An eligibility hearing is a legal process that you may ask for if you do not agree with a decision that has been made about your Medicaid eligibility.

A request for an eligiblity hearing must be submitted within 30 days from the date that you receive notice of action taken on your Medicaid case. 

The request may be submitted by writing a letter to your Medicaid Regional Office or the Medicaid State office or by completing a "Hearing Request" form which you may obtain from your Medicaid Regional Office.
