Children’s Health Insurance Program now has two provider options

Beginning Jan. 1, Mississippi children who are enrolled in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) now have the option of choosing one of two health insurance providers. Previously UnitedHealthcare was the only provider; now families have the option to choose Magnolia Health Plan.

Families with children enrolled in CHIP are given 30 days to choose which plan they want to be covered by. If they have not chosen a plan after 30 days, they are automatically assigned to one. If that happens, the family still has a 90-day opportunity to switch plans once for that enrollment year.

For providers who see CHIP enrollees, please be sure to check the Envision website to determine which plan covers each of your CHIP patients.
